Banteay Srei

Aug. 9th, 2010

Our Tuk Tuk driver suggested that we goto Banteay Srei (citadel of the women, or citadel of beauty) despite the fact that it is 37 km from Siem Reap, because this temple was known for its beautiful carvings. The temple is a 10th century Cambodian temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and is built largely of red sandstone. This was nice for us, considering after awhile many of the temples start to become repetitive. The carvings in this temple were absolutely beautiful.
