Team Zauren SouthEast Asia Trip

Jul. 13th, 2010

We took a long weekend and headed north to Pai, a small hippie farang (westerner) village. It took three hours in a van filled with 11 other people packed to the absolute brim. We got stuck in the way back by the luggage which kept falling on us. Mind you the roads were VERY VERY curvy, two people ended up getting ill and having to throw their bags of sick out the window as the driver would not stop. He also was doing about 55 MPH on dangerous curvy back mountain roads. We felt blessed to have stepped out of the van arriving in Pai.

We were lucky enough to head up with our two British friends we met at Muay Thai in Bangkok to Pai. We stayed at a lovely little guest house on the Pai river. Pai turned out to be a little more of a party town than we anticipated. However, we ended up renting motor bikes and exploring the beauty outside of Pai. We went on a short hike to the Pam Bok Waterfall, followed by the Pai Canyon, to the Pai Bridge (WWII memorial), ending at Tha Pai Hot Springs. We then took back roads through elephant farms and small towns to Pai. Absolutely lovely. Check out our photos below.
